Volunteers needed at Wharewerawera/Long Beach!

The Source to Sea team has begun planting and we're keen for your help!

This 9-hectare area of DOC recreation reserve at the southern end of Whare were wera/Long Beach, will be restored to native dune habitat, with a wide range of common and rare native plants.

We have planted 7000 of the 34,000 plants to go in this year with the help of our community, who have contributed over 500 volunteer hours!

We need volunteer help with all stages (site preparation, planting and maintenance), and we have tasks for all abilities. We hold regular weekday working bees for community or business groups and weekend working bees for anyone interested!

Please contact jeanne@haloproject.org.nz if you can help, or just come along to the next scheduled planting day!

Upcoming public planting days are:

Saturday 30 July
Saturday 20 August
Saturday 3 September
Sunday 11 September
Saturday 17 September
Sunday 25 September

Ngā mihi nui,

The Source to Sea Team
