Source to Sea – Community Field Lead 


Full-time, fixed-term contract to December 2025, Dunedin based 

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 (based on experience)

About the role 

Reporting to the Source to Sea Project Manager you will: 

  • Work as part of a team to undertake planting, plant maintenance and weed control 

  • Support volunteers to assist in habitat restoration 

  • Gain conservation skills, qualifications and experience  

 

Ideally, you will: 

  • Be an inspiring leader who is adaptable, innovative and creative 

  • Have successful volunteer management experience in an outdoor field setting 

  • Be able to work weekends as required 

  • Possess strong technical knowledge of habitat restoration, maintenance and monitoring 

  • Be able to implement field-based operations in a strategic and methodical manner 

  • Have a strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements 

  • Be an excellent communicator with an ability to relate to a range of people 

  • Have sound computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office 

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Hold a full driver’s licence and work visa 

 

Preferably, you will also: 

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in fields relating to conservation, ecology or science  

  • Have experience in conservation field work, ideally within a New Zealand context.
